Lotus Light Charity Society Vancouver is a non-profit charitable organization that distributes funds, food, clothing, and material resources to disadvantaged community members in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia. As a registered Canadian charity (BN 14110-4893-RR0001), it serves as a direct funding provider rather than a grant-making foundation.
Charitable Programs
The organization operates multiple ongoing programs: Winter Charity Drive (celebrating 30 years in 2025), Community Caring Drive, Food Recovery program partnering with Lactalis Canada, Free Income Tax Preparation Clinic, Emergency Weather Response Project, and the annual Lotus Light Charity Scholarship accepting applications for post-secondary students.
Donation Recipients
Primary recipients include homeless shelters such as Aboriginal Front Door Society, low-income housing facilities like Watari Counselling Service, inner-city school students, senior housing, and various community service organizations. The organization donates over 2,500 pounds of grocery food weekly and provides gift cards, clothing, and educational support.
History and Governance
Founded on July 30, 1993, under the guidance of H. H. Living Buddha Lian-sheng, the organization is part of the True Buddha School World Lotus Light Charity Society network. It is led by Master Lian Tzi (first general president) and Master Lian Yue (third general president).
