Our Mission
The Canadian Women’s Foundation is dedicated to advancing gender equality and empowering women and girls throughout Canada. By supporting initiatives that address issues such as gender-based violence, economic justice, and leadership, the Foundation creates lasting change in communities across the country.Key Issues We Address
- Gender-Based Violence: Every 48 hours, one woman or girl is violently killed in Canada, mostly by men. The Foundation funds programs that prevent violence and support survivors.
- Women’s Poverty: Over 1.5 million women in Canada are living on a low income. The Foundation champions economic opportunities and supports pathways out of poverty.
- The Gender Pay Gap: Women across the country face persistent wage disparities. Addressing pay equity is central to the Foundation’s mission.
- Barriers for Girls: Confidence in girls drops sharply between grades 6 and 10—from 36% to 14%. The Foundation runs programs to build confidence and leadership skills from a young age.
- Women’s Leadership: Six in ten women report finding it difficult to envision themselves as leaders. The Foundation invests in leadership programs and mentorship to break these barriers.
