The Canadian Anesthesiologists' Society (CAS) brings together anesthesiology professionals from across the country. By joining CAS, you become part of a vibrant network dedicated to advancing the practice and excellence of anesthesiology in Canada. Members have access to exclusive resources, events, and opportunities to make a meaningful impact within the specialty.
CAS hosts major events such as the Annual Meeting, which will next take place in Ottawa from June 5-7, 2026. These gatherings offer engaging sessions, networking opportunities, and the latest in anesthesiology research and practice. The society also conducts educational webinars, such as updates on intraoperative management for major liver resection, and special days celebrating advances in regional anesthesia and pain management.
CAS acts as a trusted voice in pain management and national anesthesiology advocacy. The society provides leadership on pressing issues, develops clinical guidelines like the recently released “2025 Guidelines to the Practice of Anesthesia,” and works to improve patient outcomes across Canada.
The society supports the career advancement of its members by offering job boards, accreditation of CPD activities, and development opportunities for both Section 1 and Section 3. Members can participate in online CPD opportunities and stay updated with the latest in the field through journals, newsletters, and annual reports.
CAS keeps its members informed through a variety of channels, including the Canadian Journal of Anesthesia, its newsletter, and timely updates on upcoming events and featured news. The society’s commitment to education, advocacy, and member support continues to shape the future of anesthesiology in Canada.
