- Anesthesiologist members in good standing of the SCA
- Active SCA members who have demonstrated their interest in creating or continuing a well-defined research program
- Faculty members holding a primary appointment in an anesthesia department at a Canadian university
- Anesthesia residents PGY1, PGY2, PGY3, or PGY4 in good standing in an anesthesia department at a Canadian university
- Members of the section offering the grant, for section grants

- Applicants without active SCA membership
- Applicants without a primary appointment in a Canadian university anesthesia department
- Non-residents for the resident research award
Eligible expenses
- Direct research costs, including personnel, materials, supplies, equipment, and other operating costs.
- Partial salary support for the career research fellowship.
