CAAN Communities, Alliances & Networks strengthens the funding ecosystem by centring Indigenous leadership in health funding, research, and community programming. Through initiatives such as the GLOWS Indigenous Health Grant with partners, CAAN helps Indigenous-led organizations advance projects related to HIV, hepatitis C, holistic wellness, peer support, navigation, education, capacity building, and culturally grounded care. This role is important because mainstream health funding can miss Indigenous ways of knowing, community governance, ceremony, and self-determination. CAAN creates a bridge between funders and Indigenous organizations by translating health equity commitments into grant opportunities that respect culture and community wisdom. Its impact is ecosystem-level because it grows capacity, voice, and resources for Indigenous-led health responses across Canada.
