Black Academic Scholarship Fund (BASF)
About the BASF
The Black Academic Scholarship Fund (BASF) is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1991. Its mission is to provide financial support, highlight the talent, and offer vital resources to students in the Black community. The BASF believes in nurturing and fostering young potential, benefiting not only individuals but society as a whole.
Scholarships and Support
Since its inception, the BASF has awarded over 300 scholarships. These opportunities benefit students seeking academic achievements and those requiring financial assistance to pursue their educational goals. The BASF relies on the generosity of donors, corporate sponsors, and supporters who participate in its various activities and initiatives.
How to Get Involved
Students are encouraged to learn more about the support offered by the BASF. There are resources dedicated specifically to students, making it easier to apply for scholarships and access guidance. Supporters – both individuals and corporations – are also important to the fund’s mission, with multiple ways to get involved, whether by making a donation, sponsoring events, or volunteering.
Annual Scholarship Awards Ceremony
The BASF celebrates academic accomplishments each year with its Scholarship Awards Luncheon. In 2024, the event will take place on Sunday, October 6th, from 12:30 pm to 3:00 pm at Le Nouvel Hotel, 1740 René-Lévesque Blvd W, Montréal, QC. The ceremony highlights the excellence, perseverance, and ambition of scholars supported by the BASF.
How to Donate
Donations are essential to BASF’s ongoing work. Contributions over $20 qualify for tax receipts, thanks to the organization's registered charity status (No. 89440 6396 RR0001). Every donation helps make higher education more accessible to deserving Black students and supports the future leaders of our community.
