The Bell Fund is one of Canada's leading independent production funds, certified by the CRTC to receive and administer contributions from broadcast distribution undertakings and online streaming services. Since its establishment in 1997, the Fund has played a crucial role in supporting the development and production of Canadian audiovisual content.

Funding Programs

The Bell Fund administers three main funding programs:
  • TV Production Program - Supports the production of high-quality, market-driven Canadian series in eligible genres, with two streams: Selective and Major Production Funder (MPF)
  • Short-Form Digital Series Production Program - Supports the creation of Canadian series produced for online platforms across various genres
  • Slate Development Program - Helps independent production companies diversify their development slate by offering financial support for planning and developing original intellectual property

Eligibility and Evaluation Criteria

The Bell Fund is committed to supporting a more equitable, diverse, inclusive, and accessible industry across Canada. The Fund prioritizes projects from Indigenous creators and Equity-deserving communities including Black, Racialized, Women and gender-diverse, 2SLGBTQIA+, Persons with disabilities, Regional producers, and Official Language Minority Community (OLMC) producers.
