Since its establishment in 1997, the Fund has played a crucial role in supporting the development and production of Canadian audiovisual content.

Funding Programs

The Bell Fund administers three main funding programs:

TV Production Program - Supports the production of high-quality, market-driven Canadian series in eligible genres, with two streams: Selective and Major Production Funder (MPF)
Short-Form Digital Series Production Program - Supports the creation of Canadian series produced for online platforms across various genres
Slate Development Program - Helps independent production companies diversify their development slate by offering financial support for planning and developing original intellectual property

Eligibility and Evaluation Criteria

The Bell Fund is committed to supporting a more equitable, diverse, inclusive, and accessible industry across Canada. The Fund prioritizes projects from Indigenous creators and Equity-deserving communities including Black, Racialized, Women and gender-diverse, 2SLGBTQIA+, Persons with disabilities, Regional producers, and Official Language Minority Community (OLMC) producers.
