Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • High water-use industrial, commercial and institutional (ICI) businesses.
  • Industrial, commercial (including mixed use) or institutional properties.
  • New residential high-rise buildings four stories or higher.

Who is not eligible

  • Businesses located outside York Region.

Eligible expenses

  • Upgrading to water-efficient systems and equipment.
  • Eligible water-saving retrofits.
  • Replacing inefficient equipment with new water-efficient equipment.
  • Projects that reduce risks to municipal drinking water sources.

Eligible geographic areas

  • York Region.
  • Wellhead Protection Areas A through C.
  • A Regional Centre in accordance with Official Plan policies.
  • An approved Community/Secondary Plan along those segments of Yonge Street, Highway 7 and Davis Drive identified as a Regional Corridor in the Official Plan policies.
  • An approved Local Centre and/or Local Corridor, within the local official plan.

Selection criteria

  • Some funding is on a first-come, first-served basis and is subject to the availability of annual program funding.

  • Step 1: Check eligibility

  • Step 2: Review program requirements
    • Review the specific program page and, where relevant, the LEED implementation guide.
    • Gather any information needed to describe the proposed work.

    • Use the online questionnaire/application form to start the process.
    • For LEED-related development, submit an application package as outlined in the implementation guide.
  • Step 4: Follow up with the Region
    • A York Region team member will contact applicants to discuss next steps.
