Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Calgary non-profit organizations
  • Calgary not-for-profit associations
  • Charitable groups in Calgary
  • Community-based groups in Calgary

Who is not eligible

  • Individuals

Eligible expenses

  • Expenses directly related to the approved event or initiative
  • Proposed event expenses listed in the application

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Capital-related purchases
  • Regular operating costs, including staff salaries
  • Alcohol-related expenses, including service fees and corkage fees

Eligible geographic areas

  • Calgary
  • Events or initiatives within the councillor's ward
  • Multiple wards may be considered

Selection criteria

  • Availability of remaining ward funds
  • First-come, first-served consideration

How to apply

  • Step 1: Review the WCEF guidelines and requirements
    • Review the pre- and post-event requirements before applying.
    • Prepare the information needed to support your request.
  • Step 2: Complete the application form
    • Fill out the WCEF application form with event details and proposed expenses.
    • Attach supporting documentation and any additional information needed.
  • Step 3: Submit the application
    • Send the completed application through the online form.
    • Alternatively, fax the application to 403-268-3823, Attention: WCEF Administrator.

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are reviewed by an individual Councillor for the relevant ward.
  • Applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Funding approval depends on available ward funds.
  • If approved, a post-event summary is required within 90 days after the event.
