Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Charitable organizations registered with the Canada Revenue Agency and having a valid registration number.
  • Non-profit entities formed under the Societies Act (Alberta), the Non-profit Corporations Act (Saskatchewan), Societies Act (BC) or similar legislation.
  • A Canadian-based non-profit organization partnered with a Canadian municipal government that will accept the Grant on the Applicant’s behalf.
  • A community service-oriented co-operative formed under the Cooperatives Act (Alberta) or similar legislation.

Who is not eligible

  • Religious or politically-affiliated organizations.
  • Groups that do not inclusively benefit members of their community.
  • Projects that will have adverse environmental impacts, as determined by The UFA Foundation in its sole discretion.
  • Third-party fundraising campaigns and professional solicitors.

Eligible expenses

  • Construction of the Project.
  • Initial start-up costs of programming.

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Program operating expenses; ongoing program delivery; hosting annual events/conferences; and advertising or marketing costs.
  • Travel, accommodations and/or meal expenses; fundraising activities or salaries; debt retirement; and emergency funding.

Eligible geographic areas

  • Communities within 200 km of a UFA location.

Selection criteria

  • Overall quality of the Project.
  • Community impact of the Project.

How to apply

  • The Application Contact, who has reached the age of majority in their province of residence, completes the Grant Program application form on behalf of the Applicant.
  • The application form is completed online at How To Apply | Agricultural Community Foundation.
  • The completed application form is submitted through the Grant Webpage.
  • The application must be received by 11:59:59 PM Mountain Time on July 31, 2026.

Processing and Agreement

  • The grants team of The UFA Foundation will select one or more Applicants to receive a Grant.
  • Grant Recipients will be announced in September 2026.
  • The Grant Agreement must be returned within the time period specified in the Grant Agreement, or the Grant will be forfeited.
  • The UFA Foundation may require documentation confirming eligibility under Section 3 of the Rules.
  • The Grant Recipient must recognize The UFA Foundation’s sponsorship by displaying permanent signage, including logos, inviting representatives to Project events and the official unveiling or launch, providing a Project story, and consenting to publicity.

  • Applications are accepted online only.
  • Only one application per applicant is allowed.
  • Recipients must provide permanent recognition signage for the UFA Foundation.
  • The foundation may request proof of eligibility before issuing the grant.
