- Expand an existing neighbourhood retail/service business within the target area (only the expansion portion).
- Relocate an existing neighbourhood retail/service business for the purpose of expansion within the target area (only the additional area compared to the former premises).

Eligibility
- The applicant must be a new tenant or an owner-occupant taking up a vacant space in a commercial or mixed-use building.
- The business/activity must be a neighbourhood retail/service operation that is open to the public and falls within the eligible commercial uses list.
- The premises must be located within the program’s designated application area.
- The applicant must commit to occupying the space for at least 3 years.

- Local retail and service businesses open to the public (eligible commercial uses only, as per the program’s admissible-use list)
- Non-profit organizations operating a public-facing local commerce or service activity (eligible commercial uses only)
- Self-employed professionals operating a public-facing commercial/service activity (eligible commercial uses only)
Eligible expenses
- Costs related to occupying a vacant commercial or mixed-use space (subsidy calculated based on occupied floor area).
- Eligible occupancy-related ancillary costs (“frais connexes”) reimbursed at 50% (capped at 10% of the occupation subsidy amount).

- City of Trois-Rivières, Québec (within the program’s designated “territoire d’application” for the oldest neighbourhoods/commercial corridors).

Processing and Agreement
- Applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis, until the program’s available funds are exhausted.
- If the request is accepted, the City charges a $300 fee for administration and follow-up of the approved application.
- If approved, an agreement must be signed and the applicant must occupy the vacant space before the first payment is issued.
- Grant payments are released in three instalments: 50% after signing/occupancy, 25% at the start of year 2, and 25% at the start of year 3.
Additional information
- A non-refundable fee of $100 is required to open a file, and an additional $300 fee applies for the administration and follow-up of an approved application.
- Applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis until the program funds are exhausted.
- The subsidy may be increased by 10% if the new occupancy or expansion exceeds 2,000 sq. ft.
