Eligibility

  • The building must be located in one of the City of Trois-Rivières’ designated industrial zones (sectors industriels) covered by the program.
  • The project must involve construction, reconstruction, transformation, renovation or expansion work on an industrial building.
  • The work must result in an increase in the property’s taxable value (value added) following issuance of the municipal certificate.

  • Manufacturing businesses (industrial transformation activities)
  • Transportation businesses (industrial/para-industrial activities)
  • Construction businesses (industrial/para-industrial activities)
  • Research centres and laboratories

Eligible expenses

  • Costs of construction, reconstruction, alteration, renovation or expansion work on an industrial building (on which the added value giving entitlement to the tax credit is calculated).

Eligible geographic areas

  • City of Trois-Rivières, Quebec (properties located in the program’s designated industrial zones within the city).

How to apply

Check eligibility and project scope

  • Confirm the building is located in one of the City’s industrial application zones (sectors industriels)
  • Plan construction, reconstruction, transformation, renovation or expansion work on an industrial building

Obtain the construction permit

  • Obtain the required construction permit before starting the work

Complete the work and certification

  • Complete the work so that the municipal certificate can take effect
  • Ensure the property is updated in the City’s property assessment roll following the work

Tax credit applied

  • Receive the tax credit automatically on the added value starting from the certificate effective date
  • Credit rate: 70% for 60 months (5 years)

Processing and Agreement

  • The City applies the property tax credit automatically to the added value as of the effective date of the certificate.

  • The program is offered subject to budget availability and may close once funds are exhausted.
  • The tax credit is applied automatically on the added property value as of the effective date of the certificate.
  • The municipal by-law establishing this program is a consolidated version in force since April 5, 2024, and the program has been in effect since March 16, 2016.
  • For the same work, an applicant or property may receive only one property tax credit under this by-law (or a similar prior by-law).
