Overview

The TD Friends of the Environment Foundation (TD FEF) Grant supports grassroots environmental projects in Canada—primarily environmental education and public green space programs—with most grants typically ranging from $2,000 to $8,000 (no set maximum). Eligible activities include schoolyard greening, park revitalization and programming, community gardens, outdoor classrooms and nature play, citizen science initiatives, and tree planting/urban greening projects.

Activities funded

  • Environmental education initiatives (including hands-on learning components, workshops, and public education on local environmental issues).
  • Greening and revitalization of public green spaces (e.g., schoolyard greening and park revitalization).
  • Community garden projects that address at least one environmental issue and include community engagement and/or educational components.
  • Outdoor classrooms and nature play projects that connect students to environmental learning.
  • Tree planting and urban greening projects that engage community volunteers and prioritize native species.

Eligibility

  • The applicant must be a registered Canadian charity with a Charitable Registration Number (CRN), an educational institution (primary/secondary/post-secondary), a municipality, or an Indigenous group/community.
