Get help planning a business trip to a foreign market your business is targeting for export.
Activities funded
- Planning and conducting international business development missions.
- Identifying and targeting new export markets for company products or services.
- Engaging in direct meetings with pre-qualified business prospects abroad.
- Gathering in-market intelligence to support export activities.
- Receiving guidance and support for travel arrangements and market entry strategy.

Eligibility
- The applicant must be a Regular Member of STEP (Saskatchewan Trade & Export Partnership).
- The applicant must be planning and executing a market development mission or business trip independently.
- Advance notice of travel (10–12 weeks, or 6–8 weeks if Market Intelligence is required) must be provided to STEP staff.

- Travel expenses to meet prospects in the target market.
- Assistance fees for developing a contact list on-site and organizing meetings.

Plan Well in Advance
- Allow 10-12 weeks advance notice of actual travel dates.
- If Market Intelligence services are needed, ensure 6-8 weeks notice is given.

Determine Requirements
- Meet with STEP professionals to determine the target market.
- Clarify objectives and explore financial assistance options.
- Receive assistance with developing contacts and travel arrangements.

Execute and Follow-Up
- Conduct the business trip to the target market as planned.
- Participate in a post-travel debriefing and follow-up with STEP.
Additional information
- The service can be accessed up to two times per STEP business year (April 1 – March 31); additional use may incur extra fees.
- Market Intelligence services involved in the support do not count against annual usage caps for other STEP services.
- Applicants should provide at least 10–12 weeks' advance notice of travel, or 6–8 weeks if Market Intelligence is needed.
- A post-travel debriefing and follow-up with STEP is included as part of the service.
