Overview
This stream funds research and innovative projects that improve how people prepare for, return to, or keep employment and succeed at work. Eligible organizations can apply for up to $7.5 million per project to support solutions that strengthen foundational and transferable skills.
Activities funded
- Research projects that identify better ways to help people prepare for employment.
- Innovative projects that improve approaches to helping people return to employment.
- Research and innovation initiatives that support job retention and workplace success.
- Projects that improve how foundational and transferable skills are developed to support labour force participation.

Documents Needed
Eligibility
- The applicant must be an eligible organization type under the stream (such as not-for-profit, labour union, research or academic institution, Indigenous organization, for-profit with non-commercial intent, or a provincial/territorial public body).
- The project must support research and/or innovation that identifies better ways to help people prepare for, return to, or keep employment and participate productively in the labour force.
- The project must be national or regional in scope.

- Research organizations, think tanks, and academic institutions
- Indigenous organizations
- Provincial and territorial governments, institutions, agencies, and Crown corporations
