Schulich Leader Scholarship 2027 nomination process updated
The High school nomination process now targets students graduating in the 2026/2027 academic year, adds academic excellence as a stated consideration, and includes new 2027 nominee examples and promotional materials. Key dates also shifted: the nomination deadline is January 27, 2027, the scholarship application deadline is February 17, 2027, and winner confirmations run from March 8 to June 15, 2027. The application essay changed from describing an ideal candidate to describing a meaningful risk taken and its outcome.

Who is eligible?
- Students graduating from high school or cégep in Canada in the 2026/2027 academic year
- Canadian citizens
- Students planning to enroll in an eligible STEM program at one of the partner universities
Who is not eligible
- Students focusing on activism
- Students aiming to become practicing physicians or medical researchers
- Students pursuing academia or theoretical research

Selection criteria
- Entrepreneurial-minded, exhibiting leadership, charisma, and creativity
- Strong consideration will be given to students with financial need
- Intend to pursue a career in one or more of the following focus areas: Technology, Engineering, Entrepreneurship and business enterprise, Applied scientific research
- Academic excellence is implied for acceptance into university
How to apply
- The link to access the nomination form is only available upon request by the high school / cégep.
- Your high school appoints a representative to spearhead the nomination process and submit a nominee online.
- Once a nomination is verified, the student is emailed a link to the scholarship application.
- All applications are submitted electronically.
Processing and Agreement
- Referees receive an email to an online reference request form after the nominee submits their completed scholarship application.
