Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Proof of Concept innovations are not funded under this call.
- Innovations implemented outside Colombia, Ecuador, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Morocco, Pakistan, Romania, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, and Vietnam are not eligible.
- Projects whose core intellectual property is owned by a third party without sufficient licensing rights or the required undertaking are not eligible.
Eligible geographic areas
- Applicant organizations can be based in any country.
- Projects must be implemented in Colombia, Ecuador, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Morocco, Pakistan, Romania, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, or Vietnam.
Processing and Agreement
- Applications are first screened for eligibility, and ineligible applicants are notified.
- Eligible applications then go through an innovation screen for relevance to the call and innovativeness.
- The most promising applicants are invited to submit a full Stage 2 application.
- Stage 2 proposals are reviewed by three external experts, and the strongest applicants move to due diligence discussions.
- Final decisions are made by Grand Challenges Canada decision-makers based on funding amount, and successful applicants then negotiate the funding agreement, project objectives, and budget.

- Applications may be submitted in English or French, and language quality is not assessed unless it affects clarity.
- Grand Challenges Canada does not provide individualized feedback at Stage 1; applicants reaching Stage 2 receive written peer-review feedback.
