Who is eligible?

  • Ontario beekeepers
  • Commercial beekeeping operations

Who is not eligible

  • Beekeepers with fewer than 50 colonies
  • Operations that do not keep colonies in Ontario during the overwintering period
  • Beekeepers not registered under the Bees Act

How to apply

  • Step 1: Review coverage requirements
    • Confirm you meet the bee health eligibility requirements.
    • Review the commodity-specific terms and deadlines.
  • Step 2: Submit required reports
    • File the Overwintered Colonies Report by November 30.
    • Submit the Spring Inventory and Proof of Loss form by May 15.
  • Step 3: Manage coverage changes
    • Notify Agricorp before wrapping or unwrapping hives.
    • Inform Agricorp of any business structure changes.
  • Step 4: Make a claim
    • Report damage to Agricorp as soon as it occurs.
    • Complete any required claim forms and provide requested information.

Processing and Agreement

  • Agricorp reviews the claim and may inspect the hives or request additional forms.
  • A Spring Inventory and Proof of Loss form must be submitted before the claim can be finalized.
  • Agricorp has 60 days to pay or confirm that no indemnity is payable after receiving the claim or required information.
  • If you disagree with a final decision, you can request an issue review and then appeal to the Tribunal.

  • Coverage is part of Ontario Production Insurance.
  • The program is cost-shared with governments.
  • Eligible applicants may also qualify for a 10% premium discount for beneficial management practices.
