Who is eligible?

  • Students accepted into or enrolled in recognized post-secondary degree programs
  • Mature students accepted into eligible degree programs

Who is not eligible

  • Students receiving financial support from another Métis government or organization
  • Applicants in open studies, upgrading, or preparation courses
  • Students not enrolled full-time in a degree program

How to apply

  • Step 1: Review eligibility and required documents
    • Confirm OMSA membership, Alberta Métis citizenship, Alberta residency, and program eligibility.
    • Gather proof of admission, transcripts, and funding disclosure information.
  • Step 2: Complete the online application
    • Fill out the application in the RLI application system.
    • Submit the application during the spring application period for fall and winter start dates.
  • Step 3: Submit supporting documents
    • Upload or provide all required documents requested by RLI.
    • Respond to any additional document requests if needed.
  • Step 4: Follow up after submission
    • Work with an RLI METI-S Advisor if contacted for assessment.
    • Complete the Student Action Plan and wait for the funding decision.

  • Applications are reviewed and eligibility is verified by Rupertsland Institute
  • Eligible applicants may be contacted by an RLI METI-S Advisor for assessment
  • Applicants must complete a Student Action Plan
  • Students are notified after review and funding is not guaranteed
