Overview

This funding provides up to $25,000 to support Ontario’s Black communities in improving youth wellness through sport and recreation. It supports the planning and piloting of new ideas, programs, and/or research initiatives focused on Black youth ages 6–29.

Activities funded

  • Wellness programs for Black youth that use sport and recreation
  • Planning and piloting new sport- and recreation-based ideas to improve youth wellness
  • Programs and/or research addressing long-standing issues in priority areas related to youth wellness
  • Initiatives that build the capacity of Black organizations and leaders in Ontario
Examples of admissible projects:

After-school basketball league with wellness coaching for Black youth

Dance-and-soccer wellness pilot for Black girls and young women

  • Applicant is Black-led, Black-focused, and Black-serving.
  • Applicant is a not-for-profit or charitable organization, Black collaborative, ad-hoc/informal B3 group/collective, or an individual Black leader.
  • The initiative focuses on Black youth aged 6–29 in Ontario.
  • The initiative demonstrates impact on youth wellness through sport and recreation.
  • The initiative does not have a for-profit purpose.
