New Horizons for Seniors Program updated
The Community-based projects call is now open for June 2, 2026 to July 14, 2026 at 3:00 pm EDT, replacing the previously closed intake. Funding is now up to $50,000 for a project that is up to 1 year in duration, and eligible applicants are now listed as not-for-profit organizations, Indigenous organizations, and municipal governments. Information-session guidance was also updated, and GCOS technical support now points to the email address NA-GCOS-SELSC-GD@hrsdc-rhdcc.gc.ca instead of the previous support path.

- Administrative costs directly related to the project, up to 25% of total funds requested
- Capital costs, including facilities repairs or renovations up to $25,000 and capital asset purchases linked to eligible project activities
- Staff wages, project costs, professional fees, event and workshop costs, materials and supplies, and honoraria

- National priorities may receive extra points if applicable
- Information quality is taken into account when assessing how a project responds to one or more priorities
How to apply
- Use the Grants and Contributions Online Services (GCOS) to apply
- If you are unable to use GCOS, contact your regional NHSP office to request a paper application form
- Submit only 1 copy of your application to ESDC
Processing and Agreement
- Applications submitted through GCOS receive an acknowledgment receipt by email with a tracking number
- Only the first application submitted will be accepted
- ESDC expects to make funding decisions in January 2027
- You should not start your project until you receive approval from ESDC, as you will not be reimbursed for expenditures incurred before an agreement is signed between ESDC and your organization
- Decisions are final and there is no appeal process
