Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Canadian citizens and permanent residents.
  • Legally constituted Canadian entities.
  • Canadian universities and research partners.
  • Canadian for-profit and non-profit organizations.
  • Provincial, territorial, and municipal government organizations in Canada.

Who is not eligible

  • Federal government departments and agencies.
  • Federal Crown corporations.
  • Federal employees participating through those organizations.

Eligible expenses

  • Project costs covered under the non-repayable contribution.
  • Costs for eligible activities carried out in Canada, with some related activities allowed outside Canada when necessary.

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Projects focused on PTSD prevention or treatment.
  • Individual-level contact tracing activities.
  • Unsolicited proposals that do not match a challenge.

Eligible geographic areas

  • Canada

Processing and Agreement

  • Proposals are reviewed, scored, and ranked by a DND evaluation committee.
  • Qualified proposals are placed in a pre-qualified pool for further review.
  • Funding decisions may consider similar initiatives, Canadian industrial and social benefits, and alignment with Government of Canada priorities.
  • Selected applicants are invited to sign a contribution agreement before work begins.
  • Applicants are notified by email, and feedback is provided by email.

Additional information

  • Proposals involving individual-level contact tracing will not be considered.
  • Sociocultural and gender-based differences are preferred in proposals.
  • Interdisciplinary teams are encouraged.
