How to apply
- Step 1: Review the applicant guide and challenge details
- Read the IDEaS Applicant Guide.
- Confirm that the solution fits the challenge.
- Step 2: Complete the proposal form
- Fill in the proposal form with the required project and applicant information.
- Prepare the project activities and budget section.
- Step 3: Request epost Connect access
- Send a request to open an epost Connect conversation at least five business days before the deadline.
- Step 4: Submit the proposal
- Submit the completed proposal through epost Connect before the closing date and time.
Processing and Agreement
- Proposals are reviewed by a DND evaluation committee.
- Eligible proposals are scored, ranked, and placed in a pre-qualified pool.
- Funding recommendations may consider other government-funded initiatives, Canadian benefits, and alignment with federal priorities.
- Selected applicants are invited to sign a contribution agreement before funding is issued.
- Feedback is provided by email, usually within about two months after the closing date.

- Applicants may submit more than one proposal per challenge.
- Proposals must be standalone and not interdependent.
- All proposals must be submitted in Canadian dollars.
- Selected applicants retain intellectual property rights, with a possible government licence.
