Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Ontario homeowners
  • Enbridge Gas space-heated homes
  • Low-rise multi-unit residential buildings
  • Off-grid community homeowners in Ontario

Who is not eligible

  • Homes less than 6 months old or incomplete structures
  • Homes not heated by Enbridge Gas, for enhanced rebates
  • Properties with four storeys or more
  • Retirement homes and larger MURBs over the program limits
  • Rental units that are not the owner’s primary residence

Eligible expenses

  • Home energy assessments
  • Eligible retrofit work and related materials
  • Installation costs for qualifying measures

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Work completed before the pre-retrofit energy evaluation
  • Leased or rented equipment
  • Personal labour costs for self-installed solar PV systems
  • Skylights
  • Torched-on membranes and flat roofs for roofing membrane rebates

Selection criteria

  • Eligibility under the program rules
  • Completion of required energy evaluations
  • Installation of qualifying retrofit measures recommended in the Renovation Upgrade Report
  • Application completeness and compliance with program requirements

How to apply

  • Step 1: Complete pre-retrofit assessment
    • Book a pre-retrofit EnerGuide home energy evaluation with a Registered Energy Advisor.
    • Receive your Renovation Upgrade Report.
  • Step 2: Complete eligible retrofits
    • Carry out at least one qualifying retrofit recommended in the report.
    • Keep invoices and proof of completed work.
  • Step 3: Complete post-retrofit assessment
    • Schedule and complete the post-retrofit EnerGuide home energy evaluation.
    • Ensure the Registered Energy Advisor prepares the file for submission.
  • Step 4: Submit and await payment
    • Your Registered Energy Advisor submits the application.
    • Wait for rebate processing and cheque issuance.

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications are reviewed and processed in order of receipt
  • Payment is not guaranteed when the application is submitted
  • Applicants may be asked for additional information or supporting documents
  • Approved rebates are issued after the Registered Energy Advisor submits the file
  • Rebate payments are sent by cheque, typically within 16 weeks after submission

  • The program is closed to new applicants.
  • Post-retrofit energy assessments had to be completed by December 1, 2025.
  • Applications had to be submitted by December 31, 2025.
  • Requests for grant payments submitted after the deadline are not processed.
