Who is eligible?
- Full-time professors currently working in accredited American universities or colleges that offer four-year programs, provided they hold permanent positions or are on the way to becoming permanent.
- Recent PhD graduates who are American citizens or permanent residents of the United States.
Who is not eligible
- Research on highly specialized subjects such as applied sciences, health sciences, or methodology, unless it involves multidisciplinary projects in the humanities, social sciences, or applied sciences.
Eligible expenses
- Round-trip economy airfare between Québec and the United States to conduct the research
- Transportation to and from the airport in the United States
- Daily subsistence allowances for each person on the mission, according to Québec government standards in effect
- Salary of a research assistant
- Specialized books, and publishing or distribution costs for project results, with prior justification and approval
Ineligible Costs and Activities
- Regular financing of an institution or remuneration of its staff
- Costs already supported by another government program for the same expenses
- First-class airfare and excess baggage fees
- Travel expenses and daily subsistence allowances for stays outside the American territory where the project takes place
- Acquisition of equipment, free time, general overhead, or administrative costs

- Justification of the application, rigor of the proposed budget, partner contribution, expected visibility, and Québec’s image in the United States and abroad
How to apply
- Save the form on your computer before completing it with Adobe Reader version 8.0 or later.
- Do not complete the form in a web browser or modify the PDF.
- Send your file to the Québec representation covering your State.
Processing and Agreement
- For projects amounting to CAD 10,000, a grant agreement must be signed between the parties.
- For all other projects, the partner must sign a letter of agreement and return it to the Québec office in their territory.
- The Québec office then sends the first installment.
- Selected projects must produce a financial report, a description of the funded project noting the impact generated, and either two copies of the publication-ready article-length manuscript or a chapter of a book slated to be published.
- These documents make up the final project report, and the manuscript copyright remains the exclusive property of the researcher.
- Failure to provide the final report within 60 days of the end of the project may result in cancellation of the second installment, and any extension must be agreed in advance with the Québec office concerned with the project.
