How to apply

  • Step 1: Complete pre-retrofit EnerGuide evaluation
    • Book an evaluation with a registered service organization.
    • Receive the Renovation Upgrade Report.
  • Step 2: Complete eligible retrofits
    • Carry out the approved home improvements.
    • Keep receipts and invoices marked paid in full.
  • Step 3: Complete post-retrofit EnerGuide evaluation
    • Schedule and complete the post-retrofit evaluation.
    • Wait for reports to be uploaded to the portal.
  • Step 4: Upload documents and request payment
    • Upload receipts, invoices, and any required supporting documents in the portal.
    • Request the grant through the portal.
  • Step 5: Accept payment
    • Review the decision email from NRCan.
    • Log in to the portal and accept payment.

Processing and Agreement

  • Post-retrofit evaluation results are reviewed after the work is completed.
  • Program staff review uploaded receipts and documents to confirm eligible costs.
  • If information is missing, applicants are contacted directly.
  • An email with the funding decision is sent by NRCan.
  • Payment is processed after the applicant accepts payment in the portal.

Additional information

  • Requests submitted by December 31, 2025 continue to be processed.
  • All products and equipment had to be purchased in Canada.
  • Online purchases were only eligible if ordered from a Canadian distributor.
  • The program was closed to new applications.
