The How to Apply page for Individual Applications was updated to show that the individual call is now closed. It also adds the next call timing for April 2027 and states that funding decisions will be made in early October 2026. The individual Apply Now portal link was removed from the page, and the Additional Supports & Resources page no longer shows the individual information-session registration links that were previously listed.

Who is eligible?
- First Nation individuals aged 18 and over with a valid Social Insurance Number and valid membership to a First Nation community, including those residing outside Canada
Who is not eligible
- Individuals who will not be 18 years old by December 31, 2026
Eligible expenses
- Tuition, books, supplies, and other fees, including computer costs
- Monthly expenses, including housing, childcare, food, personal care, and transportation

- Entrepreneurial activities
- Capital costs, including construction, renovation, land, watercraft, or aircraft purchases
- Legal action and compensation claims
- Payments for past student loans or debts
- Activities outside the Foundation’s objectives
Selection criteria
- Applications are assessed using the same evaluation scoring grid
- The review considers the objectives of the FG Foundation
- Preference is given to former residential school survivors
How to apply
- Visit https://www.fgfoundation.ca/granting/how-to-apply and click Individual Applications are now open
- Sign in with your existing credentials or create a new account and confirm it through the verification email
- After signing in, update your Eligibility Profile, select Individual from the drop-down menu, and click Save My Profile
- Review the tasks on the left side of the screen, use Task Instructions Show when needed, and complete all required tasks
- Download the application anytime if needed, review the information and supporting documents, and submit the application online through the portal
Processing and Agreement
- Applications cannot be changed after submission
- Only completed and submitted applications proceed to the selection committee for consideration
- Applications undergo review to assess eligibility and qualification using the same evaluation scoring grid and the objectives of the FG Foundation
- Funding decisions are sent by email by the end of September or beginning of October each year, and successful recipients are assigned a program team member
- Funding is released in two stages: 90% after required documents are approved and 10% after the necessary reporting documents are approved
