Overview
The Government of Québec’s Financial support program for community daycare activities (Component 2) provides grant funding (maximum amount not specified) to support one-time projects that complement regular community daycare (halte-garderie communautaire) activities. Eligible activities are temporary, occasional child-minding services that are secondary to a community organization’s mission and offer parental respite or emergency support to help families participate in the organization’s activities.
Activities funded
- Delivery of community drop-in daycare (halte-garderie communautaire) activities that provide temporary, occasional childcare as a complementary service to the organization’s family-focused activities.
- One-time projects that complement the organization’s regular community drop-in daycare activities.
Eligibility
- The applicant must be a community action organization whose mission is to offer activities or services to families (other than child care).
- The project must be a one-time (occasional) project that complements the organization’s regular community daycare (halte-garderie communautaire) activities.
- The proposed community daycare activities must be secondary to the organization’s broader mission (i.e., accessory to its core mandate).
- The activities must provide temporary, occasional child care intended for parental respite or short-term support, and/or to enable family members to participate in the organization’s activities (or those of its partners).
Who is eligible?
- Community action organizations whose mission is to offer activities or services to families (other than childcare)
- Community organizations providing community daycare (halte-garderie communautaire) activities as a complement to their family-focused services
Who is not eligible
- Organizations whose primary mission is to provide childcare services (i.e., entities focused on childcare rather than offering other family services).
Eligible geographic areas
- All administrative regions of Quebec.
Additional information
- The program distinguishes community daycare (HGC) from regulated early childhood education and care services, as it is not governed by ministerial directives or a regulation.
- For Component 1, supported organizations must submit an annual progress report and annual accountability documentation to the Ministère de la Famille.
- No call for letters of intent is currently underway.
- The program includes two components: support for regular HGC activities (Component 1) and support for one-time projects complementary to regular HGC activities (Component 2).
