Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Individuals of all artistic disciplines
  • Arts and culture organizations
  • Non-profit arts and culture organizations that have been in operation for a minimum of one year and whose mandate includes arts or culture

Who is not eligible

  • Governments and their agents
  • Activities of religious organizations that primarily serve their membership or their direct religious purposes, rather than providing significant benefit to the community at large

Eligible expenses

  • Supplies and materials to be used during the project
  • Wages for artists, performers, writers, designers, technicians or curators
  • Project management or coordination
  • Venue rental
  • Equipment rental

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Regular operating expenses

  • Debt retirement or contributions to reserves
  • Projects involving advocacy efforts
  • School-based activities including, but not limited to, curriculum delivery and extracurricular activities

How to apply

  • Complete and submit an online application for the program you wish to apply for before the appropriate funding deadline.
  • All CKCA applications are submitted through the online portal.
  • If you do not have access to a computer, contact the CKCA office at least 10 days prior to the deadline for assistance.
  • If adding external attachments to your application, save, close and re-open them before uploading to check that they are not blank or corrupted.

Processing and Agreement

  • Funding recommendations are made by the CKCA steering committee and approved by the Trust.
  • Adjudication results will be mailed or emailed to you within approximately 16 weeks of your program deadline.
  • After approval, you will receive a funding agreement outlining your payment schedule and reporting requirements.
  • The funding agreement must be signed and returned to CKCA before any payments can be made.

Additional information

  • Applications are adjudicated once a year.
  • Adjudication results will be mailed or emailed to you within approximately 16 weeks of your program deadline.
  • Your project may begin any time on or after June 1 of the funding year, but starting before results are announced is at your own financial risk.
  • If you have an active grant from prior to the 2025 funding year, email admin@wkartscouncil.com or call 250-352-2421 to make arrangements for your reporting.
