Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Organizations applying to the Sport & Active Lifestyles Program streams
  • Organizations applying to the City Enrichment Fund through the Survey Monkey Apply online platform

Who is not eligible

  • Organizations that have outstanding City Enrichment Fund Final Reports or other requested follow up material are ineligible for subsequent funding.

Eligible expenses

  • Professional fees paid to outside professionals for expertise
  • Project-specific promotional materials
  • Administrative support and supplies
  • Facility rental fees
  • Staffing, materials and equipment, training, certification, translation costs, and operating expenses depending on the stream

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Trade shows, trade fairs and conferences
  • Events or celebrations
  • Creation of new website and refreshing it with new marketing material
  • Hardware such as laptop, printer, tablet
  • Insurance

Selection criteria

  • Program merit accounts for 45% of the assessment
  • Community impact accounts for 35% of the assessment
  • Organizational capacity accounts for 20% of the assessment
  • Assessment considers good use of public funds

How to apply

  • Read the City Enrichment Fund Program Guidelines and the Sport & Active Lifestyles Program Handbook.
  • Use the Application Details section of the handbook when writing the application.
  • Attend an optional workshop led by program staff.
  • Create an applicant profile and submit the application online at https://cityofhamilton.smapply.io/.
  • Complete all sections of the application online.
  • Upload all documents using the checklist to confirm all attachments have been submitted.

Processing and Agreement

  • Applications that receive a passing score above 60 are presented to the City of Hamilton Grants Sub-Committee for review and approval.
  • Successful applicants receive confirmation of funding by email, including instructions to receive funding and a timeline for release of funds.
  • CEF funding must be used in the same year that it is awarded.
  • Approved grant amounts may be less than the maximum or requested amount.
  • The Final Report must be completed and submitted to CEF staff by February 1st of the following year.

Additional information

  • There are seven streams in the Sport & Active Lifestyles Program Area.
  • An organization can only apply to a particular stream one time, regardless of how many different projects they may have.
  • An organization may apply to multiple streams as long as the applications are for different projects.
  • Successful applicants must acknowledge the City of Hamilton’s support through CEF in program materials and promotion.
