Canada Music Fund - Individual Initiatives

• The program provides $1 million in annual funding (for five years) to support music industry entrepreneurs and organizations from Francophone official language minority communities (OLMCs) and to Francophone OLMC artist-entrepreneurs who manage their own careers.

• The applicant must be a Canadian artist, artist-entrepreneur, or Canadian music industry professional.
• Eligible organizations include for-profit Canadian owned and controlled firms (such as record labels, music publishers, or those involved in artist management) and not-for-profit organizations with a primary focus on the development of Canadian music artists.
• The proposed activities must center on the development of Canadian artists, promotion of their music, or audience expansion.

• Canadian artists and artist-entrepreneurs
• Canadian music industry professionals
• For-profit Canadian owned and controlled firms (e.g., record labels, music publishers, artist management companies)
• Not-for-profit organizations dedicated to the career development of Canadian music artists

Eligible expenses

• Production and marketing costs for Canadian sound recordings.
• Expenses related to domestic and international touring, including showcases.
• Artist management fees and associated costs.
• Costs for publishing Canadian musical works.
• Business development expenses to support artists' careers.

• Applicants can access funding either through a comprehensive envelope or project-by-project support.
• The Individual Initiatives component is delivered in English by FACTOR and in French by Musicaction.
• The most recent evaluation of the Canada Music Fund covers fiscal years 2012-2013 to 2017-2018.
