Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Visual artists residing in Dufferin County.
  • Artists working in painting, drawing, photography, or digital art.

Who is not eligible

  • Town of Orangeville employees.
  • Members of the Town of Orangeville Economic Development and Culture Committee.

Eligible expenses

  • Artist fees for selected artwork designs.
  • Required full-quality print-ready files for selected works are to be provided at the artist’s own expense.

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Designs containing traffic lights, signs, or signals.
  • Advertising or promotion for a business, product, or viewpoint.
  • Vulgar, profane, offensive, negative, or insensitive content.
  • Artwork that breaches intellectual property rights or includes illegal activity.
  • Attachments of any objects to the box.

  • Fulfillment of eligibility and design criteria.
  • Artistic excellence as an image and as installed artwork.
  • Appropriateness of content and design for the location and theme.

How to apply

  • Step 1: Review requirements
    • Read the Call for Artists details, eligibility, design rules, and submission requirements.
    • Check the location template for the site you want to apply to.
  • Step 2: Prepare your materials
    • Create or adapt your artwork to fit the selected template.
    • Prepare your artist biography or resume, design concept, standalone image, and layout template.
  • Step 3: Submit online
    • Complete the online form.
    • Upload all required documents.
    • Submit before Thursday, May 14, 2026 at 12 p.m.
  • Step 4: Wait for review and notification
    • Submissions are juried by the Town of Orangeville.
    • Selected artists are notified after the review process.

Processing and Agreement

  • Submissions are reviewed by a jury assembled by the Town of Orangeville.
  • Artwork is evaluated against eligibility, design, artistic quality, and location fit.
  • The Town may reject any or all submissions and may assign selected artwork to the most appropriate final location.
  • Selected artists must sign an agreement before proceeding.
  • Applicants are notified if their artwork is selected.

Additional information

  • Submissions are reviewed by location.
  • Selected artists may be asked to make changes to their design.
  • Artwork may be altered, damaged, or removed after installation.
  • There is no limit to the number of submissions an artist can make.
