Who is eligible?
- Surrey students
- Students who graduated or will graduate from a Surrey public secondary school
- Students attending a Surrey public secondary school or learning centre
Who is not eligible
- Students eligible for the BC Tuition Waiver Program for former youth in care
- Students who previously received a BBF bursary and did not meet the requirements, unless invited to re-apply by the BBF Selection Committee
- Students planning to attend a master’s or doctoral program

How to apply
- Submit the request to the student’s secondary school or learning centre for approval.
- Have the application endorsed by the school through a letter from a School Administrator nominating the student.
- Submit the application by mail or online no later than February 25th.
Processing and Agreement
- The BBF Selection Committee reviews all applications and selects a shortlist of candidates for interviews.
- Short-listed candidates are contacted by phone to arrange an interview.
- Final selections are made after all interviews are completed.
- Decisions are communicated to successful applicants as soon as possible.
- Scholarships are conditional on the student being accepted into one of the post-secondary institutions listed on the application form.
Additional information
- Applications must be endorsed by the applicant’s school through a nomination letter from a School Administrator.
- Short-listed candidates will be contacted by phone for an interview.
- The bursary may be reassessed yearly and can continue for up to four consecutive years for university degrees or two for college or trade school diplomas.
- At the end of each semester or reporting period, students must provide proof of credit granted and a brief progress summary.
