Eligibility

Who is eligible?

  • Private employers
  • Non-profit employers
  • First Nations
  • Organizations acting on behalf of employers, such as industry associations and union training centres

Who is not eligible

  • Government bodies
  • Broader public sector organizations
  • Employment Ontario or COJG service providers
  • Employers receiving other public funding for the same training for the same participant

Eligible expenses

  • Direct training costs
  • Training materials, including textbooks and software
  • Travel expenses for eligible distance-related training

Ineligible Costs and Activities

  • Training already in progress
  • Courses and activities that are not eligible, such as MBA, CFA, LSAT, MCAT and GMAT preparation
  • Business consulting services and conference participation
  • Membership fees, subscriptions, annual fees and professional association dues
  • Training for business owners and senior executives of large organizations

  • Validity of the application and proposed training
  • Value for money
  • Alignment with ministry priorities
  • Past performance in the program for returning applicants
  • Priority for training that supports new or better jobs

How to apply

  • Step 1
    • Complete the employer application online.
    • Use the service provider assigned by postal code if assistance is needed.
  • Step 2
    • Prepare the required attestation forms and participant registration form.
    • Ensure all forms are fully completed.
  • Step 3
    • Submit the application before training begins.
    • Allow at least 12 business days for processing.
  • Step 4
    • Pay the training provider.
    • Submit proof of payment and the completed training results report to receive reimbursement.

Processing and Agreement

  • The application is reviewed for eligibility before funding is considered.
  • The ministry or service provider assesses validity, value for money, and alignment with program priorities.
  • Past results under the program may be considered for repeat applicants.
  • Funding is not guaranteed even if eligibility requirements are met.
