Who We Are

Wildlife Habitat Canada is a national, non-profit, and charitable conservation organization dedicated to supporting wildlife habitat conservation initiatives across Canada. Our vision is a future where Canadians embrace a conservation ethic, recognizing the critical importance of abundant, rich, and biodiverse wildlife habitats. We aim to foster a deep connection between people and nature, ensuring a legacy of healthy and diverse wildlife for generations to come.

What We Do

Wildlife Habitat Canada supports a broad spectrum of conservation projects across the country. To date, over 1,600 projects have been funded, enhancing and conserving 1.43 million acres of wildlife habitats. With more than $64 million provided in funding, our projects have protected critical ecosystems and countless wildlife species. Our main program areas include:
  • Habitat Conservation Stamp Program: Funding habitat conservation projects through the sale of conservation stamps.
  • Natural Heritage Conservation Program: Supporting land trusts in acquiring and stewarding ecologically significant lands.
  • Community Conservation Action Program: Empowering local communities to engage in hands-on conservation activities.

Recent project highlights include:
  • Youth for Freshwater Action: Empowered over 360 students in workshops, reduced carbon emissions, and supported outdoor education.
  • Peninsula Blanche Coastal Protection: Conserved hundreds of hectares of coastal habitats, sustaining rare wetlands and migratory bird pathways.
  • Women in Outdoor Programs: Introduced hundreds of women to outdoor activities, connecting communities with nature.
  • Moose Conservation in Nova Scotia: Engaged citizens in data collection and raised awareness about endangered species.
  • Wetland Restoration in New Brunswick: Restored over 580 acres of habitats and mobilized volunteers for ecosystem stewardship.
