Role in the Funding Ecosystem
The Township of Montague operates as a local municipal government that provides discretionary funding support to community organizations through its Community Grants program. This program represents one of the mechanisms by which the municipality fulfills its role in supporting local quality of life and community development.
General Evaluation Criteria for Applications
Organizations seeking funding must meet at least one of the following criteria: be a non-profit organization meeting Ontario's Lottery Licensing Policy Manual eligibility requirements; groups that would increase public awareness of the community in a positive manner; or organizations providing recreational or cultural services not currently offered by the Township.
Contributions are not made for discriminatory activities, events contrary to municipal policies, or unlawful activities.
Types of Funding Available
The Township offers three main types of support: monetary donations (maximum $5,000, with Council able to make exemptions based on needs), grants in-kind, and pins and collectibles.
