As part of its role in local development, the Town administers a Community Improvement Plan adopted in 2021 to stimulate economic development and urban improvement. The CIP includes eleven financial incentive programs, including grants for accessibility improvements, brownfield redevelopment, building façade improvements, commercial retail market studies, green initiatives, landscaping and parking area improvements, planning and building permit fees, signage improvements, tax increment equivalent support, and a temporary mobile market grant. These programs are designed to help businesses, property owners, and landlords improve and revitalize commercial spaces.
The Town also participates in grant-supported community service initiatives, such as transportation support for residents through externally funded municipal programs. Through these mechanisms, the Town of Petawawa acts as an important local public-sector funding provider and program sponsor that helps attract investment, improve commercial properties, support accessibility and adaptive reuse, and strengthen long-term economic and community vitality.
