Building the Future of Pain Science
The Canadian Pain Society (CPS) is a leading organization dedicated to advancing the science and management of pain in Canada and beyond. Each year, professionals, researchers, and advocates from across the country and around the world gather to share expertise on the latest breakthroughs in pain mechanisms, evaluation, and treatment.
Annual Scientific Meeting
The 46th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Canadian Pain Society will take place from Thursday, May 1st to Sunday, May 4th, 2025, at the Quebec City Convention Centre. Under the theme "Building the Future of Pain Science," this event brings together multidisciplinary experts to discuss innovative approaches to pain management and research. Early registration is encouraged, as this event provides valuable opportunities to network and learn about the latest advances.
National Pain Round Series
The Canadian Pain Society hosts a National Pain Round Series on the last Friday of every month. These sessions foster important discussions among scientists, healthcare professionals, educators, and advocates working on chronic pain. The sessions are open to the public and provide a platform to explore new solutions and share best practices in the field of pain management.
Support for Research and Education
CPS supports research and education through various programs, including a prestigious open-access journal, the Canadian Journal of Pain, and funding for postdoctoral research, particularly in areas relevant to veterans and chronic pain policy. The Society also recognizes the beauty and impact of artistic expression in pain science with a dedicated art award.
Uniting Canada for Better Pain Care
As the Canadian chapter of the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP), CPS is committed to advancing the human right to pain prevention and treatment. The Society helps shape national pain action plans and advocates for better care for individuals living with pain throughout Canada.
Celebrating Nearly 50 Years of Progress
Founded in 1975, the Canadian Pain Society has a rich history of promoting research, education, and awareness of pain. As it approaches its 50th anniversary, CPS continues to lead in collaboration, professional development, and efforts to reduce the burden of chronic pain at both individual and societal levels.
