Grant and Funding Programs Offered by The Branscombe Family Foundation (BFF)

The Branscombe Family Foundation is a private charitable foundation established in 1977 by Frank and Mildred Branscombe in Niagara Falls, Ontario. The foundation serves as a vital funding source for educational and social initiatives within the Niagara Region, focusing on improving the quality of life for residents through targeted grant programs and scholarship opportunities.

The foundation operates two primary funding streams: scholarships for post-secondary students and grants for charitable organizations. Scholarship recipients must be graduating from publicly-funded high schools in the Niagara Region and plan to attend an Ontario-accredited university or college. Grants are focused on organizations serving children, youth, and single-parent families, with emphasis on 'hand-up' opportunities rather than direct assistance.

Grant applications are evaluated based on alignment with the foundation's mandate, which excludes funding for advocacy, causes, direct benevolence to individuals, conferences, religious organizations, arts and culture, sports and recreation, environmental initiatives, animal shelters, and research. Priority is given to organizations with a physical presence in Niagara that provide direct services to residents.

Since its inception in 1977, the foundation has distributed over $10 million to charitable and educational organizations in Ontario and the Niagara Region. Annual scholarship applications are distributed through guidance departments at publicly-funded secondary schools in Niagara, with a minimum 80% average requirement for eligibility.
