Role of Segelberg Trust in the Funding Ecosystem
The Segelberg Trust is a charitable foundation that provides grant funding to support projects in theology, public policy, and the environment. Established in 1984, it has a long-standing history of promoting academic research, theological education, and youth engagement with spirituality and religion.
General Evaluation Criteria for Applications
- Funding is limited to one-third of the total project cost
- Trustees expect co-funding to be sought or available before considering projects
- Funding may only be offered for three consecutive years
- Projects must align with the Trust's focus areas: Theology, Public Policy, and the Environment
- Preference for projects that engage youth in dialogue about beliefs and spirituality
Transparency, Governance, and Accountability
The Trust is governed by a board of trustees who review all applications. Grant recipients must acknowledge the Trust's support in event publications and public events. The Trust requires that projects assume liability for their work and may stop funding if projects are deemed inappropriate or outside the Trust's normal activities.
