Role of the Trust in the Community Funding Ecosystem
The Milford on Sea Charitable Trust acts as an umbrella charity, providing essential infrastructure and financial support to voluntary community organisations in the local area. Rather than running its own programs directly, it enables other groups to operate effectively by offering shared services.
Support Services Provided
The trust provides bank account facilities, insurance coverage, DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) checks for volunteers, and general advisory support to community groups. This umbrella model allows smaller volunteer organisations to access professional infrastructure they could not otherwise afford.
Currently Supported Organisations
- Milford on Sea Action for Dementia - supporting those affected by dementia
- Milford Music & Memory Afternoons
- Milford on Sea Volunteer Drivers (MVD) - transport for those with mobility needs
- Step Up Safe Space (SUSS)
- Magical Milford at Christmas
Governance and Transparency
The charity is administered by a board of trustees and registered with the UK Charity Commission (number 1172750). Financial transparency is maintained through Gift Aid registration, allowing donors to maximise their contributions.
