Role of Glorisun Global Network in the Funding Ecosystem
The Glorisun Global Network serves as a pivotal funding intermediary connecting Buddhist Studies scholars across three continents. Established in 2017 and funded by the Glorisun Charitable Foundation (established 2005 by Dr. Charles Yeung), the network provides substantial financial support to facilitate international academic collaboration in Buddhist Studies and East Asian Religions.
Funding Programs Offered
- Visiting Professorships: Senior scholars from Chinese-speaking countries/regions spend 3-12 months at member universities in Europe or North America, participating in weekly meetings and public lectures
- Graduate Student Fellowships: Advanced students and postdoctoral fellows from Chinese-speaking regions spend 6-12 months at partner institutions
- Research Fellowships: Chinese Buddhist Studies fellowships for 3-6 months of research in Chinese-speaking countries
- Conference Funding: Annual conference support at each member institution
- Lecture Series: Sponsorship of three annual lectures on Buddhist Studies
- Graduate Student Fellowships for East Asian Buddhism: Supporting students from Chinese-speaking regions enrolled at member universities
- Publication Support: Two journals (Chinese and English) and 10+ book volumes annually across four series
