What is the Generations Fund?
The Generations Fund® is Federation CJA's most significant and ambitious initiative to ensure a vibrant future for the Montreal Jewish community. Created through a partnership between Federation CJA and generous donors, this endowment fund now exceeds $80 million. The fund is dedicated to strengthening Jewish identity across Montreal, supporting vital areas that impact thousands of families and individuals.
Main Program Areas
The Generations Fund focuses on five key program areas:
- Increased access to and excellence in Jewish day schools
- Jewish overnight and summer camps
- Youth outreach and engagement
- Jewish learning
- Israel experiences and travel grants
Impact on Jewish Day Schools
The Generations Fund supports seven Jewish day schools, directly benefiting close to 3,300 students each year. This assistance improves access to quality Jewish education and encourages families to choose Jewish learning for their children.
Support for Jewish Camps
Through incentive and access grants, the fund has helped nearly 4,000 campers experience the joys, friendships, and Jewish values learned during summer camp. Jewish camps are pivotal in fostering a sense of belonging and cultural continuity among young community members.
PJ Library: Free Books and Music
Since 2009, the Generations Fund has enabled the distribution of Jewish-themed books and music to over 9,000 children in Montreal through PJ Library. Every month, families receive new materials that help them celebrate and engage with their Jewish heritage from an early age.
Access to Israel Experiences
