The Sibylla Hesse Foundation is a private family foundation established in 2007 with a mission to ease suffering and support human fulfillment. Based primarily in Quebec, the foundation supports charitable organizations and initiatives across five key sectors: health and research, youth well-being, senior well-being, poverty reduction, and arts and culture.
Only registered charities with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) holding a valid charitable registration number may submit donation requests. Requests must align with one of the foundation's five focus areas. Organizations must be based and active in Quebec, though exceptions may apply for scientific research and international aid projects.
Donation requests are accepted year-round through an online portal. Most decisions are rendered within four to six weeks. Requests requiring more thorough analysis are submitted to the Board of Directors, with processing times up to three months. Applicants receive decisions by email and can track their request status through the portal.
The foundation is governed by a Board of Directors that includes the founder, Mrs. Sibylla Hesse, and family members. A small permanent team handles daily operations including Executive Director Marie-Claire Lachance and Philanthropic Operations Coordinator Carole Bouchard.
