About Léa Roback
Léa Roback (1903-2000) devoted her life to advancing women's rights, peace, social justice, and access to education. In the 1930s, she became a prominent union activist supporting female and male workers in various Montreal industries. From the 1960s onward, Roback was closely involved in both the peace and women's movements, leaving a lasting legacy of social engagement.
The Creation of the Fondation Léa-Roback
In November 1993, to mark Léa Roback’s 90th birthday, the Fondation Léa-Roback was established. Inspired by Roback’s ideals, the foundation provides scholarships to socially engaged and economically disadvantaged women residing in Quebec, supporting them as they pursue their educational goals and personal growth.
