Grant and Funding Programs Offered by Fondation de l’Académie Saint-Louis

The Fondation de l’Académie Saint-Louis is a registered charitable organization associated with Académie Saint‑Louis in Québec City. Its role is to be a key financial pillar for the institution by supporting both academic and sports excellence. The foundation mobilizes philanthropic resources through campaigns, lotteries, golf tournaments, cocktails and other benefit events, then redistributes these funds to improve access to education and enhance learning and sports environments for students from preschool through secondary and beyond.

A central component of its mandate is a structured financial aid program aimed at ensuring equitable access to the school. This program is open to students already enrolled at the preschool/primary or secondary pavilion who have completed the normal admission steps. Families must submit a formal application, including a motivation letter describing their financial, social or family situation, the importance of remaining at the Académie, and their level of engagement in school and foundation activities, along with a completed form and supporting documents.

Applications for financial assistance are evaluated twice each school year, in the fall (September–October) and in the winter (January–February). Decisions are communicated by members of the foundation’s financial aid committee to parents by fixed deadlines (31 October and 28 February). This recurring evaluation process demonstrates that the foundation operates an ongoing aid mechanism rather than ad hoc support.

The 2023‑2024 activity report indicates that more than 33,000 $ in financial aid was awarded to 11 families in one year, and that over 500,000 $ has been granted to the Académie Saint‑Louis since 2018. In addition to direct aid to families, the foundation finances infrastructure and equipment projects such as the Desjardins Sports Complex, weight‑room equipment adapted to adolescents, changing rooms and program‑specific facilities, outdoor redevelopment, and various scholarships and support for school initiatives.

The foundation targets the entire student body of the Académie Saint‑Louis, from preschool and primary to secondary. By combining financial aid for tuition with investments in learning and sports spaces, it contributes both to individual accessibility and to the collective quality of the school environment. Its actions are guided by the mission of fostering a strong sense of belonging and supporting the personal development of each student.

Governance is ensured by a director and a board of directors whose members are named in the annual report. The foundation communicates transparently through documents such as the annual activity report, which summarizes fundraising activities, amounts raised and main contributions, and it can be contacted directly via a dedicated email address for questions or funding requests.
