Role of Diva International Inc in the funding ecosystem
Diva International Inc is a women-founded Canadian B Corp best known for the Original DivaCup and a broader line of reusable menstrual, pelvic and sexual wellness products. Beyond its commercial activity, Diva operates a structured Impact Program that channels 2% of the company’s revenue to community organizations, charities, and educational institutions. The program focuses on expanding access to safe, affordable and sustainable period care, especially for underserved communities in Canada and the United States.
Through this program, Diva combines in-kind product donations (such as Diva Cups and Diva Wash) with financial support. The company reports having donated over 75,000 Diva Cups to more than 260 organizations since 2018, diverting tens of millions of single-use period products from landfills. Its impact work also includes educational brochures, demonstration kits for medical and community partners, and reimbursement of tampon taxes in certain US states via the Tampon Tax Back Coalition.
Impact pillars and funding priorities
- Access to safe and affordable menstrual products – Funding and product donations to organizations that provide direct menstrual product support to people in need, with a focus on menstrual equity.
- Menstrual, reproductive and sexual health care – Collaboration with organizations offering inclusive sexual and reproductive health services and education using an intersectional lens.
- Gender equity, empowerment and liberation – Support for groups investing in the empowerment of BIPOC, women and gender-diverse people, recognizing menstruation as a human experience rather than a gendered one.
- Environmental stewardship – Support for organizations dedicated to protecting environmental resources, aligned with Diva’s positioning as a reusable period care company.
Eligibility and application process
The Social Impact Program page outlines clear eligibility criteria. Diva funds programs in communities where the company has a notable presence, primarily Canada and the US, and prioritizes organizations working within its four impact pillars and providing direct community support. Eligible applicants include registered charities, registered non-profit organizations, community groups and local initiatives that share annual outcomes and financial statements.
Diva explicitly does not fund individuals, for-profit businesses or health programs, political or religious organizations, private schools, or organizations operating outside its geographic focus or impact pillars. Applications for Diva Cup donations are accepted on a rolling basis, with scheduled closures (e.g. July–August and December–January) depending on demand and donation availability. Requests are submitted via an online Donation Application Form, and educators or non-profit medical professionals can separately request educational demo kits through a dedicated form.
Supported audiences and overall impact
Diva’s funding and donations target organizations that advance menstrual equity and health, particularly for people facing barriers related to income, race, gender identity or geography. Impact reports highlight community engagement, the number of organizations served, donated product volumes, and educational reach. Diva also integrates sustainability and workplace equity into its broader impact strategy, including partnerships for green energy, and resources such as a Menstrual & Menopause Leave Toolkit designed to help employers create more equitable workplaces.
