Role in the Funding Ecosystem
The Canadian Grenadier Guards Foundation serves as the primary charitable funding body for the Canadian Grenadier Guards Regiment, providing financial support to serving members, veterans, and their families. As a federally registered charity, the foundation administers dedicated funds for emergency assistance, education, and community welfare.
General Evaluation Criteria for Applications
For the Regimental Family Assistance Fund, eligible applicants include actively serving Grenadiers and their spouses, as well as past-serving Grenadiers and their spouses. Requests are submitted through the chain of command or directly to the Foundation with support from the National Executive of the Association. The RSB Committee awards scholarships based on merit and bursaries based on need.
Transparency, Governance and Accountability
The Foundation is governed by a volunteer board of directors chaired by the Honorary Colonel, with officers including a President, Vice-President and Secretary/Treasurer elected by the board. As a registered charity, donors receive Canadian tax receipts for donations.
History and Evolution
The foundation supports the Regiment's heritage and maintains close working relationships with Veterans Affairs Canada and other charitable organizations to coordinate support for veterans and serving members.
Supported Audiences and Overall Impact
The foundation supports actively serving members of the Canadian Grenadier Guards Battalion, past-serving veterans, their spouses and dependents, and the broader regimental family. Programs also benefit the Regimental Museum and community initiatives.
