Grant and Funding Programs Offered by Caledonia Community Foundation (CCF)

Caledonia Community Foundation is a local philanthropic foundation dedicated to strengthening Caledonia, Ontario and neighbouring communities. Established in 2009, it pools donations into endowment and community funds, then redistributes investment income and contributed capital through annual grants, scholarships and support for charitable projects. The foundation positions itself as a “charity for charities”, helping both individual donors and local organizations channel resources into eligible community initiatives.

Through its Community Fund, CCF provides annual grants to registered charities and qualifying charitable activities in Caledonia and the surrounding area. Funded projects have included heritage restoration, social services, affordable housing initiatives, literacy and reading programs, arts and culture activities, and community events. In addition, the foundation manages designated funds such as donor-designated and donor-advised funds, allowing donors to target specific organizations, causes or projects while leaving administration and governance to the foundation.

Education is a key priority. Via the Education Fund and several named awards, CCF grants scholarships and bursaries each year to graduating secondary school students who demonstrate academic achievement, community involvement or a focus on arts, language or business studies. Donors can contribute to existing scholarship funds or work with the foundation to create new ones aligned with their intentions.

CCF often partners with local groups, municipalities and service clubs to deliver larger initiatives. Notable examples include major support for the Caledonia Lions Community Centre, campaigns with the Caledonia Agricultural Society, collaborations with the Royal Canadian Legion, and community projects such as park improvements and holiday lighting displays. The foundation also creates and administers endowment funds on behalf of other registered charities, freeing them from investment management while giving their donors access to charitable tax receipts and a structured long-term funding vehicle.

The foundation’s support is aimed primarily at registered charities, community groups working on eligible charitable activities, and local students seeking post-secondary education. By maintaining low administrative costs and emphasizing local impact, CCF helps ensure that donations remain in the community and translate into tangible improvements in quality of life, community facilities, education and cultural vitality in Caledonia and its surrounding area.
