Role in the Funding Ecosystem
The Bayshore Foundation for Empowered Living acts as a philanthropic arm of Bayshore HealthCare, one of Canada's leading home and community healthcare providers. The foundation strategically funds initiatives that address barriers preventing people living with illness, injury or aging from living independently. It operates on a community-focused model where funds raised in a specific community stay in that community to support local registered charities.
Funding Areas and Target Audiences
The foundation supports charities focused on healthcare, palliative care, mental health, seniors' services, brain injury, chronic illnesses, and disabilities. Target beneficiaries include people living with Alzheimer's/dementia, cancer, multiple sclerosis, cystic fibrosis, Parkinson's, ALS, and other conditions affecting independence. The foundation also supports hospice care, food security, and community support organizations.
General Fund and Matching Programs
The Bayshore Foundation General Fund provides matching dollars to charities supported by Bayshore HealthCare locations across Canada. The foundation also matches employee donations at 50% through the Power of One campaign, maximizing the impact of individual contributions to local charities.
